Nelson Donohue Trusler, Troop 911, Becomes Eagle Scout

Nelson Donohue Trusler, BSA Troop 911 was honored on Jan. 5, 2013 in Yorktown on Sunday. He received his Eagle Scout Award. 

Yorktown councilman Vishnu Patel presented Trusler with a Certificate of Achievement on behalf of the Yorktown Town Board.

For his project, Trusler restored the Progressive Archery Trail at the Blue Mt. Sports Center, less that a mile from his home in Cortlandt Manor.

The trails were cleared and marked. A 30-foot split rail fence was constructed to keep the archers from wandering off course and ending up down at the Pistol Range.

At each station a target hut was constructed with a fiberglass roof. The huts were painted and then filled with hay bales and targets. Numbers were placed at the firing line of each station and space was made for the late addition of 3D targets at each station. One station needed to be turned 90 degress, so archers were not shooting towards the expanded gun range. A foot bridge was erected over some wetlands.

All in all the project totaled more than 250 hours.
