The information was provided by the Yorktown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Stolen Cologne, Shoe Polish

Sears security personnel reported to police last week that they had a man in custody for stealing items from the store, Yorktown police said.

Jeremy Whalen, 21, of Putnam Valley was arrested and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

Police allege the man exited Sears on Oct. 16 with two bottles of cologne and a bottle of shoe polish, valued at a total of $74.99, without paying for the items. Whalen was processed and released. He was scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 20.

Harassing Text Message

In other police news, a 55-year-old Yorktown Heights has been charged with aggravated harassment, a misdemeanor, for sending a threatening text message to a family member, Yorktown police said.

The man was arrested, released and scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 25.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
