Four Charged in Westchester-Putnam Heroin Investigation

Three arrested in raid at Somers home, fourth arrested in Yorktown.

A four-month investigation into heroin distribution in the northern towns of Westchester County led to raids today in Somers and Yorktown and four arrests, according to State Police.

State Police, Westchester County Police and the Westchester District Attorney’s Narcotics Initiative combined efforts in the arrests of Peter Muir, 25, Alora Muir, 19, and Cody Vonelm, 19, all from Somers, and Bret Oleet, 25, of Yorktown.  

Peter Muir’s house, located in the Lake Lincolndale hamlet of the Town of Somers, was raided early today by the County Police Special Response Team, Investigators from the District Attorney’s Office and members of the State Police.
 
A search of the residence, police said, found Muir was in possession of several bundles of heroin, suboxone, brass knuckles and a gravity knife. He was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree with intent to sell and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, all felonies.  

Alora Muir and Cody Vonelm were also found to be in possession of heroin and were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree with intent to sell, also felonies.
 
After the raid in Lake Lincolndale, Westchester County Police went to the Town of Yorktown and arrested Bret Oleet and charged him with two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, felonies, as part of this ongoing investigation.
 
All four were arraigned by Somers Town Judge Denis Timone, who ordered  them held in the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla pending a hearing on Thursday.
 
Westchester County and Putnam County law enforcement are continuing the investigation into the distribution and possession of heroin within the two counties.  State Police said that anyone with information is encouraged to contact a local State Police barracks, the Westchester County Police or the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
