Football Coach Gets 300th Win; Halloween Events; Penny Social for Womens' Auxiliary

Here are five things you need to know Oct. 26 to Oct. 28.

1. Congratulations Somers Football

Somers High School football coach Tony DeMatteo got his 300th victory. The team beat Hendrick Hudson 34-7.

2. Costco Public Hearing is Monday

The Costco public hearing is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. It will be held at the Yorktown Stage, located at 1974 Commerce Street. 

3. Halloween Events This Weekend

4. Penny Social for Womens' Auxiliary

The Penny Social for the Yorktown Engine Co. No. 1 Womens' Auxiliary is on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 6:15 p.m. a 1916 Commerce Street. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Admission is $5 and it includes 100 tickets, coffee or tea and raffles. 

5. Weekend Weather

According to the National Weather Service, Friday is expected to be party sunny with a high near 67. There is a slight chance of rain after noon on Saturday. Otherwise, it's expected to be partly sunny, with a high near 67. Forecasters are predicting rain for Sunday, the chance of precipitation is 50 percent. The rain Sunday night could be heavy at times.
