Daylight Saving Time, Teacher Conferences, Early Dismissal, Sunshine this Weekend

Here are five things you need to know March 9 to March 11.

1. 

It's nearly time to 'Spring Forward.' At 2 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, March 11, we'll be springing our clocks forward—and losing an hour of the day, for Daylight Saving Time. The good news: sunset will be an hour later, around 7 p.m. instead of 6 p.m.

2. Teacher Conferences, Early Dismissal

The kindergarten through 5th grade teacher conferences at are on Friday. There will be no afternoon school for K-5. Early dismissal for  school is at 11:10 a.m., for  and schools early dismissal is at 11:55 a.m. All enrichment centers will be open.

3. Bulk Trash Pick Up Starts Next Week

Bulk trash pick up will begin next week. Check the postcard which was mailed to each household for the schedule. For more information, call the town's environmental department at 914-245-4438.

4. Hudson Valley Gateway Experience on March 24

5. Sunshine this Weekend

While the weather this weekend will not beat yesterday's high temperatures which reached 70 degrees in some areas, forecasters are predicting sun. According to the National Weather Service, Friday will be partly sunny, with a high near 44. Temperatures could be in the high near 43 on Saturday and near 55 on Sunday. Both days are expected to be sunny.
