Lakeland Senior Awarded Scholarship; Somers Diner Open; Bedelia Birthday Party

Here are five things you need to know today, Jan. 29.

1. Lakeland High School Student Receives Scholarship

Brandon Dumoit, a Mohegan Lake resident, has received a scholarship to attend Berkeley College, Berkeley College President Dario A. Cortes said. 

Berkeley College scholarships are awarded annually to high school seniors who demonstrate a high level of achievement in high school. Scholarships are renewable based on the recipient’s cumulative grade point average at the end of each academic year and continued enrollment as a full-time student.

2. Town Board Work Session

Yorktown town board members will meet tonight at Town Hall. The meeting will begin with a personnel discussion in closed session at 6:45 p.m. The open meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. For the full agenda, click here.

3. Amelia Bedelia Birthday Party

Amelia Bedelia books have been around for 50 years. The Somers Public Library invites children ages 6-8 to read the original book together and play birthday party games on Jan. 29 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. This program is limited to Somers residents.

4. New Business in Somers

The Somers Diner is now serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is located at 155 Route 202, the corner of Lovell St in Lincolndale. You can eat in or take out. Place order by calling 914-617-8550. 

5. SEPTA Meeting Tonight

The Special Education PTA (SEPTA) Meeting is scheduled for Jan. 29 at Lakeland High School at 7:30 p.m.
