1. Arbor Day Contest

Arbor Day is planned for May 4, but don't wait much longer. Officials are holding an Arbor Day design contest. The winners will have a tree planted at their school or meeting site, as well as receiving a tree for themselves and a certificate from the town. for more. 

2. Lakeland Schools Closed Today

Lakeland schools are closed for students on Friday, March 23. Faculty and administrators will attend their 4th Superintendent's Conference Day for the 2011-12 school year. The day is dedicated to professional development.

3. Yorktown Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Yorktown Easter Egg Hunt is planned for next weekend. It will take place on Saturday, March 31 at 10 a.m. at Downing Park. Children ages 12 and under will participate in Jelly Bean guess, have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny and other characters, and enjoy hunting for colored eggs. Prizes will be provided to all participants, with special prizes for the finders of the special eggs.

4. Weekend Planner

5. 4th Annual Chamber of Commerce 

The Home Expo is on Sunday, March 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at  in Jefferson Valley. The event will feature more than 100 local vendors and businesses mainly in the home industry field: renovation, remodeling, appliances, excavation, masonry, painting, roofing, windows, siding, fencing, landscaping, plumbing & heating, electrical, flooring, carting, financing, insurance and more.
