Rockin' at the Grange Fair

Another gorgeous day for the Grange Fair and while the night was chilly, there was plenty of excitement to keep the fun rollin'. Highlights included crowded performances from Chris Clark's Bicycle Stunt Show (more shows scheduled for Saturday and Sunday), an enthusiastic musical set from Unfunded Mandate, followed by Jessica Lynn and her band whose hot sound kept the crowd warm. Both of these bands trace their roots to the Lakeland schools which begs the question: is there something in the water on the northwest side of town?
Between sets I enjoyed a walk around the exhibits - the new Jerry Mulcahy Memorial Building looks great with all of the flower and produce exhibits on display; I made fast friends with a very cute and curious goat; and I was rewarded with some appreciative licks from a grateful cow after I scratched an itch behind her ear that she was rubbing against a post! And who knew there were that many old farm tractors in Yorktown?
Speaking of which, they will all be parading down Commerce and Hanover Streets Saturday at noon. Come on out to watch them go by and then follow them back to the fairgrounds for what promises to be another great day at the Grange Fair.
