Opening Night at the Yorktown Grange Fair

Under clear, cool skies, the 2013 Grange Fair opened with the first ever karaoke contest at the Fair with winners, chosen by the audience, taking home trophies.
Next up onstage was The Monarch, a classic rock band comprised of five MESMS 8th graders, who performed admirably in front of a supportive crowd.
Lastly, it was The Mighty Few Band laying down a solid, low-key groove - I really enjoyed their nuanced performance.

All of which leads into a full day on Friday with the gates opening at 10am. The Senior Citizens Luncheon is at noon followed by a wool spinning demonstration by the Hanover Hand Spinning Guild in the livestock tent.
Friday also marks the return of both The Great Charlini Magic Show and Chris Clark's Bicycle Stunt Show to the Grange Fair, with multiple shows throughout the day (and the weekend). Young kids love The Great Charlini's zany show, and Chris Clark's stunt work will amaze all ages and is not to be missed.
On the musical menu, Unfunded Mandate, the pride of the Lakeland School District, make their return engagement to the Grange Fair stage at 6pm, followed by the high-powered talent of Jessica Lynn, a local high school singer/songwriter promoting her first album.
Grab a jacket or a sweatshirt if you're coming at night, and bring an appetite - lots of great food to choose from!
