Live Local Music at Grange Fair

The Grange Fair (which opens today at 5:00) is all about showcasing local talent, whether it's raising the best rabbit, growing the biggest pumpkin, baking the tastiest pie, or knitting the best sweater. Local musicians also enjoy the spotlight as they perform live on the main stage over the next four days. Following is a summary of who performs when:
Today, the stage opens with a karaoke sing-off competition from 5:00 to 6:30. At 6:45, The Monarch, a teen group from Yorktown takes the stage, followed by The Mighty Few, a classic rock cover trio, at 8pm.
Friday evening, September 6th kicks off at 6:00 with a return engagement by Unfunded Mandate, a classic rock/pop cover band comprised entirely of Lakeland School District staff and led by Dr. George Stone, the Lakeland Superintendent of Schools. At 8:30, Yorktown native and up-and-coming singer/songwriter Jessica Lynn and her 11-piece band take the stage in support of her debut country album titled “This Much Fun”.
Saturday afternoon, Annie & The Natural Wonder Band return to the Grange Fair to perform a special matinee performance at 12:30. Annie and her husband, Safari Bob, perform fun-filled interactive songs about the wonders of nature, and are a beloved favorite of Yorktown families with young children. From 4:30 to 6:00pm, the First Friday Performers from the Yorktown Teen Center will highlight local teen musicians making a name for themselves. Then at 8:00pm Saturday night, local favorite Chain of Fools featuring Larry Eidelman, aka Yorktown’s Public Safety Officer, will get everyone dancing when they perform all the best Motown, R&B, and funk from the 60’s to the 80’s.
On Sunday, the final day of the Fair, The Sundown Band – New York’s premier southern rock band – returns to headline the Grange Fair with two sets at 3:00 and 5:30. Celebrating their 10th anniversary of performing at the fair, The Sundown Band brings the true heart of southern rock’n’roll to Yorktown with their fiery dual guitar attack.
I'm looking forward to the entire line-up! Stay tuned for more previews and reviews throughout the Fair!
