More than 8 million adults in the United States live with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD, also known as ADHD and ADD). A person is diagnosed with ADHD when certain characteristic behaviors are displayed over a long period of time such as distractibility, impulsivity and hyperactivity. Although ADHD is a lifelong genetic difference usually first identified in childhood, it is sometimes only diagnosed in adulthood.
