Victoria's Confections, Cards & Gifts Closes on Downing Drive in Yorktown

Even though the two stores have closed, next door to them – Sophia's Pizza – is planning on expanding into the Cards & Gifts space.

Two stores have closed down for business on Downing Drive in Yorktown – Victoria's Confections, which opened just a few months ago, and Cards & Gifts.

With a new concept in mind, Yorktown resident Victoria Addino opened up Victoria's Confections in early August. Her store sold crepes, gelato, hard ice cream, self-serve frozen yogurt, individual pastries, milkshakes, cotton candy, popcorn, slushies and more than 250 kinds of candy you can place in a bag and weigh.

Meanwhile, Sophia’s Pizza, which is located right next door in the shopping plaza, is planning to expand into the closed Cards & Gifts space, co-owner Anthony Salvatore told Patch.

Salvatore, a Yorktown resident, said the pizzeria currently has six tables and with the expansion they would be able to offer dining to about 50 to 60 people.

"It would be in our best interest to do this, and hopefully in Yorktown's best interest," he said.

According to a poster placed in Sophia's Pizza window, once the expansion is complete, they would serve lunch and dinner Mondays through Thursdays until 10 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays until 11 a.m. and Sundays until 9 p.m.
