Somers Enjoys Fresh Produce at Old Bet Farm Market

A new fresh produce farm stand has Somers residents coming back for more each day. Old Bet Farm Market, located on Route 202, will stay open all year round following its grand opening earlier this month.

"We have no grocery stores [in the area], said Somers resident Cindy Pietrani, who cited the A&P in the Somers Commons and the Shop Rite in Bedford as being too far away. "It's fantastic. It's all fresh produce."

The farm market has a variety of products – organic yellow squash, zucchini, fava beans, eggplant, tomatoes (yellow, plum, orange), peppers, cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, lime, corn, peas, avocado, radishes, beets, cauliflower, grapefruit, watermelon, peaches, blueberries strawberries, apples, mangoes, pears, sunflowers, parsley, cilantro, thyme, onions and more.

Customers can also buy plants, while a flower shop is expected to be opened in the back of the store before the end of the summer.

The Old Bet Farm Market is cash only. It is located at 261 Route 202 in Somers. It is open seven days a week: Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
