Hanukkah Haven Opens in Westchester

Dreidel Island is open through Sunday, offering Hanukkah gifts, games and more.

Driving past the shopping plaza at 27-29 Pleasantville Rd. in Ossining, Dreidel Island looks like a permanent storefront along the strip.

But Chabad Lubavitch of Briarcliff Manor-Ossining has rented out a vacant space for the second consecutive year and opened up for just one week.

Dreidel Island is chock-full of all things Hanukkah—from a shop featuring every kind of menorah and dreidel to craft tables and games for kids of all ages, Chabad Co-Director Miriam Labkowski said the store gives local Jewish families the chance to focus on Hanukkah in an often Christmas-dominated world.
