Councilman Bianco Vying for Yorktown Supervisor Position

Yorktown Councilman Nick Bianco, a registered Conservative, has been invited to the Yorktown Democratic Convention Monday might where he will be vying for the committee's nomination as Yorktown supervisor.

"We will see what happens tonight," Bianco told Patch.

Ron Stokes, co-chairman of the Yorktown Democratic Committee, confirmed to Patch that Bianco is a candidate and that his record on open space, environment and constituent service is "consistent" with the values of Yorktown Democratic Committee members.

"I expect [Bianco] is going to have very substantial support for supervisor," Stokes told Patch. "We believe he will be a good representative for the supervisor position."

Bianco, who has been a member of the town board since 1996, stressed he was a registered Conservative and was invited by the Democrats to attend the Convention. He will have a longer statement after the meeting on Monday, he said.

Yorktown Republican Committee members have already made their nomination for Yorktown supervisor. They have endorsed incumbent Supervisor Michael Grace who is running for re-election.

Former Yorktown Supervisor Susan Siegel, who served one term as supervisor when she was elected in 2009, has also announced her intentions to seek a supervisor position. She will be seeking the Democratic Town Committee's nomination and attend Monday night's meeting.
