The Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown is celebrating the start of the school year with its annual Back-to-School event for young students and parents on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The event will feature a variety of interactive activities for children, including craft-making activities and games. There will be a special guest appearance and book signing by local author Frank Rich who will read passages from his book If I Were a House.
The day will also feature live performances from The Wizard of Oz by members of Actors Play Ground of Westchester, followed by interactive improvisational exercises. Yorktown's non-profit organization Alliance for Safe Kids will be on-site providing parents with vital information about health and safety.
Each event attendee will have the chance to win prizes, giveaways and retailer
coupons.
"We know the back-to-school experience means more to families than simply purchasing must-have supplies,” said Lauren Penchina, director of marketing
and business development at Jefferson Valley Mall.
Penchina said the mall is hosting the annual Back-to-School event to encourage parents and kids to connect with each other, enjoy a final moment of summer fun and get ready to take on a new school year.
