Earring Making Workshop

When/Where: Saturday, March 2 at 12 p.m. at the John C. Hart Memorial Library in Shrub Oak

Why go: Make earrings for yourself and for a Battered Women’s Shelter. Optional: Bring any old bead jewelry that you can recycle into earrings. Yorktown Leos and Elks Pancake Breakfast with SpongeBob

When/Where: Sunday, March 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Elks Lodge in Yorktown

Why Go: The Yorktown Leos and Elks are sponsoring a pancake breakfast with Spongebob and friends at the Elks Lodge, located at 590 Waverly Road, Yorktown Heights. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for kids, kids under 3 years old eat for free. Proceeds will be donated to charities that benefit disabled children. Contact president@­yorkto­wnleos.­org.

'Casino Night and Dinner Dance'

When/Where: Saturday, March 2 at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Why Go: Three women – Monica Garrigan, Jane McCarthy and Donna D’Andrea of Yorktown Relay for Life – will be honored at the annual fundraising event sponsored by The Foundation for Excellence in Yorktown Education. In addition, you can purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to be a featured as an extra in a movie to be shot in Yorktown.

Price: The cost for the 'Casino Night and Dinner Dance' is $100 per person, $900 for a table of 10 guests if prepaid. It includes dinner, dancing, open bar, casino tables, silent auction items. 


Disney's Beauty and the Beast

When/Where: Van Cortlandtville Elementary School in Mohegan Lake; Friday, March 1, at 6:30 pm; Saturday, March 2, at 10 am; Saturday, March 2, at 1 pm

Why Go: Benjamin Franklin Elementary School students will perform Beauty and the Beast.

Price: $7 for Adults; $5 for Children

 

Open Mic Night

Where/When: Teen Center, Yorktown Community and Cultural Center, 6:30 p.m. Friday March 1.

Why go: Great acoustic music, covers and originals, performed by teens.

 

SEF’s Carnival Night & Ice Cream Social 

When/Where: Friday, March 1 from 6:30 p.m.to 9 p.m. at Primrose School gym and cafe.

Why go: Join The Somers Education Foundation for Carnival Night & Ice Cream Social. Admission allows kids to play carnival games and win prizes. Ice cream included for all. Pizza and other concessions will be available. 

 

Somers Women's Club Blood Drive

When/Where: Saturday, March 2 from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Somers Intermediate School on Route 202

Why Go: Blood supplies are low and your help is needed. Volunteers will also work at the blood drive by escorting donors from the donation area to the canteen table and ensure people feel well before they are discharged by the nurse.


Sugaring Sunday

Where/When: 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2. Teatown Lake Reservation, 1600 Spring Valley Rd

Why go: Follow the hoses. There's tapping, collecting, boiling, bottling. Programs fill quickly so registration is strongly recommended. Call 914-762-2912 x110 to reserve.

Price:  Free for members; $5pp for nonmembers. 

 

Spin for Pediatric Cancer

Where/When: Spinsational on Saturday, March 2 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: Take part in a spin class that will benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Briarcliff Manor teen Jordana Cohen organized the effort for the first time lat year and is continuing the fundraiser Saturday.

Pricing: $20/kids, $30 adults (for one spinning session)

 

Eagles Out

Where/When: Croton Boat Ramp, 9 a.m. Saturday, March 2.

Why Go: Catch one last glimpse of wintering eagles before they leave for their northern home! Meet at the Croton Boat Ramp and be prepared to travel to other sites along the river. Dress warmly and bring binoculars. For adults only.
