Hart Library: Paper Arts
When/Where: Sun, Jan 15 at 1 p.m. at the in Shrub Oak
Why go: Paper Arts & Mixed Media - Altered Altoids Tins. Learn how to craft a one-of-a-kind tins using empty Altoids (or other tin) boxes. You will receive a materials list at registration. The program limited to 30 participants is great for adults and teens. Please register for this program.

Miss New York USA/Miss Teen New York USA Pageant

Why Go: Over the course of two days, see the groups of young women compete for the title of Miss Teen New York USA and Miss New York USA. There is even a to root for.

Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Starring Peter Gros

Why Go: From the famous television show that has been entertaining audiences for more than 45 years, animal lover Peter Gros will delight audiences with a live presentation. Gros highlights his countless wildlife adventures with a mix of video clips, audience participation, and friendly exotic animals. He includes inspirational stories that deal with issues of conservation, travel, and wildlife filming.

Why Go: Total Nonstop Action wrestling is a professional wrestling organization, based in Nashville, Tennessee that hosts live events throughout North America. TNA Impact! is the title TV show and can be seen weekly on Spike TV. “The Charismatic Enigma” Jeff Hardy, Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle, Impact Wrestling superstar Bobby Roode, “The Cowboy” James Storm, the knockout Velvet Sky and others will be featured live.

Why Go: See the White Plains Performing Arts Center's Conservatory production of the zany "The Rocky Horror Show,” The over-the-top story follows two clean cut young people, Brad Majors and his fiancé Janet Weiss, who run into trouble and seek help at the freaky Frankenstein mansion. Little do they know that the mansion is inhabited by alien transsexuals from the planet Transylvania and Dr. Frank N Furter is in the midst of one of his maniacal experiments.

24th Annual Winter Jazz Concert Featuring Houston Person

Why Go: Legendary jazz musician Houston Person and his quartet return to The Schoolhouse Theater to present their 24th Annual Winter Jazz Concert. A world-renowned jazz tenor saxophonist, songwriter, bandleader and record producer, Houston Person has recorded more than 75 albums since the 1960's with a style that ranges from hard bop to swing, but it is jazz for which he is most widely known.

Event: “Reviving the Spirit, Restoring the Dream,” this celebration will feature performers and speakers honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King.
MLK Day of Service

Event: Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” Choose from 25 service projects to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King.
MLK Freedom Day Concert at Barnes & Nobles in White Plains
When/Where: Monday, Jan. 16, from 12 noon-4 p.m. (pianists only from 6-8 p.m.) at , 230 Main St
Event: The Martin Luther King, Jr. Freedom Library will celebrate Martin Luther King Day with two free concerts: The Senakwami Chorus and solo pianists will perform for the fundraiser: for everyone who makes a purchase at any Barnes & Noble on Jan. 16 and gives the library book fair ID, 10616605, Barnes & Noble will make a donation to the Freedom Library in White Plains.
The library has unusual and important books and films for adults and children on subjects such as non-violence and anti-racism, Dr. King and other great peacemakers, African-American history and more.

Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Family Day Celebration
Where/When: Monday, Jan. 16, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the in Greenwich
Event: This year’s theme, “Dr. King’s Message of Love” features special performances by Built for Praise Dance Academy, a young vibrant dance troupe from Bridgeport, Connecticut who specializes in dance performances with a message. They have choreographed a special program to honor Dr. King and his message of love. Students of all ages and abilities will have the opportunity to make “I have a dream …” buttons and add their self-portraits to the Circle of Friends mural.
