Yorktown High School Senior Receives Girl Scout Gold Award

Yorktown High School senior Kristen Anderson is the recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the highest award girls can earn in scouting.

Her project was called "Caring for the Caregivers at Rosary Hill Home." She wanted to show appreciation for those who dedicated their lives caring for patients who are terminally ill with cancer at the Rosary Hill Home.

For her project, Anderson completely refurbished an outdoor building which is used by the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne in the summer months. The project included sanding, staining and painting the entire structure as well as installing 22 new screened windows.

Yorktown Councilman Vishnu Patel presented Anderson with a certificate of achievement on behalf of Yorktown town board members.
