Yorktown Dentist Office Collects 1,016 Pounds of Candy for the Troops

The candy is sent to Operation Support Our Troops, a non-profit organization that sends care packages to service men and women deployed overseas.

Despite Hurricane Sandy’s interruption of Halloween, this year’s candy buy-back drive brought in 1,016 pounds of candy, according to Ashley Witkiewicz, office manager at the Valley Pediatric Dentistry in Jefferson Valley.

The dentist office held its 5th Annual Halloween Candy Buy-Back program earlier this month as families were asked to bring their Halloween candy into the office. Each child’s candy was weighed and each child was paid $1 per pound.

The candy is sent to Operation Support Our Troops, a non-profit organization that sends care packages to service men and women deployed overseas.
