Holiday Guide: Candy Cane Run and Breakfast with Santa, Holiday Nights and More

There are plenty of chances to meet him in Yorktown and nearby.

Looking for photo opportunties with Santa Claus? Not to worry, there are plenty coming up.

Santa Claus is Coming to Yorktown

Santa will be making his way around Yorktown with your volunteer firefighters from the Lake Mohegan Fire Department and the Yorktown Heights Fire Department to handout candy canes, and spread some good old holiday cheer.

He will be making his rounds on Dec. 11 starting at 8:45 a.m. Click here (if you are in the Yorktown Heights Fire District) to find out when Santa will be in your neighborhood. All route times are approximate, and residents should be aware that all fire apparatus are in full service and Yorktown firefighters may be answering alarms as they come in throughout the day affecting route times.

The Lake Mohegan Fire Department's annual holiday candy cane runs will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10 and Sunday, Dec. 11 (snow dates will be Dec. 17 and Dec. 18). Click here for the schedule for the entire run. Pictures can be taken with Santa, as children tell their last minute Christmas wishes. Due to safety concerns, firefighters ask residents to be at the location approximately 10 minutes prior to the arrival time, so children aren't running in the streets or around the fire trucks. Please be advised that times may be delayed and/or cancelled withour warning due to any fire or EMS call personnel must respond to.

Want your pooch to pose with Santa?

Head to the this Sunday, Dec. 4 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. , as well as Sunday, Dec. 11 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. No poisonous or dangerous animals are allowed. All pets must be on leashes or in carriers. Click here for more information. 

Head to , 114 South Kensico Ave., on Saturday, Dec. 3 and Sunday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Photos cost $12 and include a holiday card. Click  fore more information. All proceeds will be used to purchase holiday gifts for homeless pets.

Enjoy a buffet breakfast with St. Nick, as well as dancers from the Westchester Ballet Company’s Nutcracker, balloon art, face painting, cookie decorating, music and more at the ’s event on Sunday, Dec. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at 3 Renaissance Square.

 with  at the  Saturday, Dec. 3 at 8:30 a.m. Magician Joe Fields will perform and kids are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to Fred’s Pantry, an organization that helps feed the homeless in the Peekskill area. 

Admission is $3 for Simon Kidgit members and $10 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased anytime in advance at Simon Guest Services or on the day of the event, if still available.

The Yorktown Lions Club and the American Legion Post are with Santa, Mrs. Clause and Frosty. The event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18 at the American Legion Post, 235 Veterans Road, Yorktown Heights. There will be face painting, holiday activities and you can receive a photo with Santa on a button to wear as well as a visit with Santa to give him your Christmas Wish List.

Tickets must be purchased in advance- $6 per child, $8 per adult and children under 3 years of age are free. All children must have an adult with them to attend! for more information. 

Mr. Claus will also make his annual appearance at White Plains’ City Lights, Bright Holiday Nights tree lighting event. The celebration includes all sorts of activities, and takes place on Sunday, Dec. 4 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Tibbits Park. Click  for details.

Send a Letter to Santa

Let your child enjoy the magic of Christmas by writing a letter and getting a response from Santa Claus. All City children are welcome to write their letters and drop them off through Dec. 19 in Santa’s Mailbox at , 255 Main St. Don’t forget to leave your address so Santa can write back.
