The Fireman’s Carnival is Coming to Town on Wednesday After Parade

The Yorktown Heights Engine Company will be hosting its annual Fireman's Carnival and Parade. The five-day of rides and excitement starts Wednesday, June 22 at 7 p.m. with a Fireman's Parade.

The parade will be paying tribute to the lives lost in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and to all the First Responders, 343 Firefighters, and EMS personnel and 60 Police officers, past fire chief Martin McGannon said. The Engine Company will also be honoring all the men and women who serve and have served in the United States Military. 

Police Chief Daniel McMahon advises residents that there will be some temporary road closures during the parade. Yorktown Heights Engine Company #1 parade will begin on Moseman Road by the St. Patrick's Church to Hanver Road. It will then turn north on Hanover Road to Underhill Avenue, following Underhill Avenue north onto Commerce Street. It will then follow Commerce Street to Veterans Road and the parade will end at the fire department.

The following roads will be closed from 6:45 p.m. until the conclusion of the parade:

  • Underhill Avenue- between Hanover Street and Route 118
  • Commerce Street- between Route 202/35 and Underhill Avenue
  • Veterans Road- between Commerce Street and Maple Hill Street
  • Kear Street at Underhill Avenue
  • Downing Drive at Commerce Street
  • Hanover Road between Moseman Avenue and Commerce Street
  • Front Street at Underhill Avenue
  • Richard, Church and Harwood Place at Hanover Road

The carnival begins Wednesday after the parade and it will end Sunday, June 26. On Thursday and Friday, the gates will be open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
