On July 3rd, 2014, the Somers Lions Club in partnership with the Norm Hathaway Big Band and the Westchester Ballroom Studios, are hosting a Ballroom Dance Party at the Danbury Crowne Plaza to benefit of five-year-old heart transplant recipient Jayshawn Jones.

The Somers Lions Club is hoping to raise $25,000 to pay for expenses not covered by insurance.  To date they have raised about half that amount. They are asking everyone attending their ballroom dance event to make a donation to help cover the cost of over $500,000 of Jayshawn's heart transplant.
Jayshawn, also known as "J.J.," received his new heart in March of 2014 and is now recovering in Methodist Hospital in NYC, according to his fundraising page, which also stated:

"His recovery will be long and expensive due to the cost of travel, shelter and food for everyone while at the hospital as well as at the family home. Transplant recipients require lifelong medical care to prevent organ rejection, so this struggle has only just begun for Jayshawn & his family. We are and will continue to do all we can to help them, and we appreciate the kind generosity of all who have helped & will help in the future."

The Somers Lions Club fundraiser for Jayshawn takes place on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Crowne Plaza, located at in Danbury, CT.  If you would like to donate but can not attend the event,  please mail a check to The Somers Lions Club, P.O. Box 95, Somers, New York 10589.
