Security Guards at Somers Schools; Palace of Wonders; Polar Plunge

Here are five things you need to know today, Dec. 28.

1. Uniformed Security Guards at Somers Schools

Somers School District Superintendent Raymond H. Blanch wrote earlier this month that as a result of the District Crisis Team work, they will have a uniformed security guard presence at the entrance of each school starting Wednesday, Dec. 19.

He wrote: "The guard will be augmenting our current staff in checking for visitor IDs as well as securing our schools. All of our security guards will have at least 10 years of law enforcement experience. As we continue to enhance the security of our schools for the safety of our children, I will keep you updated."
