Going from spring to summer, the temperatures reached 80 around the Hudson Valley today.

Across Westchester and Rockland counties, the temperatures spiked, making it feel more like a than a Monday in April.

The 80-plus temperatures and sunshine ushered in that summer time feeling, sending folks searching for a little relief from the heat.

"I love it," Frank Fanellis, a Scarsdale laborer, said of the temps while working on a sidewalk in the bright sunshine.

"It's better than being cold," his coworker, Mario Grella, chimed in.

From Sleepy Hollow to Tarrytown, Scarsdale to Yorktown to Bedford, residents tried to keep cool with frozen treats and sprinklers, and caught some rays on the outdoor patios.

Due to the heat, winds and dry weather, the National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch in effect for the tri-state area through Tuesday evening. The watch includes the Hudson Valley and Westchester.
