'No Child Wet Behind': Diaper Drive in Yorktown on June 1

Northeast Doulas, LLC, an organization that has been providing professional doula services to families Westchester for 10 years, is holding a diaper driver to help families in need.

Organizers will host a "No Child Wet Behind" fundraising event and diaper drive to benefit the Westchester Coalition for the Hungry and Homeless. It will be held on Saturday, June 1 at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown.

“We’re passionate about birth, families and community so celebrating by giving back seemed like the perfect way to commemorate this important milestone of success for us,” said Randy Patterson, co-owner of Northeast Doulas. “We just can’t have moms and babies in our community suffering when we have the power to make a difference.”

The fun-filled day kicks off with race registration at 7:30 a.m. The 10K race will start at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9:30 a.m. and family fun run at 9:35 a.m.

The Hudson Valley Hospital Center is the event’s title sponsor.

Awards will be presented following the race and the celebration will continue at 11:30 a.m. with DJ entertainment, parachute and bubbles with Gymboree at 12:30 p.m., a performance by Dance Expression at 1 p.m., as well as a variety of food and general vendors. Cake to celebrate Northeast Doulas’ 10th Anniversary will be ceremoniously cut and served to complete the day.

Pre-registration online for the 5K or 10K is $25 or $35 for both. The one-mile family fun run is $15 (kids under 10 are free). Those who pre-register will receive free parking. Registration fees on-site are $30 for 5K or 10K or $40 for both and $20 for the one-mile. All-day parking is $8.

All are welcome to join the celebration following the race at no cost. Participants are asked to bring diaper donations. All sizes are needed, and open packages are accepted.
