Mohegan Lake Business to Benefit Autism Speaks Through Golf Outing

For the third year in a row, two Mohegan Lake business owners – Audrey Hochroth and husband Sal Barone – are prepping for a fun-filled day to support a cause that is special and close to their hearts

Hochroth has experienced the first hand struggles of autism with her daughter Niki, who was diagnosed with autism at a young age. That's why she and her husband decided to take matters into their own hands and help make a difference.

Their annual golf outing, benefitting Autism Speaks, will take place on Monday, Aug. 12 at Hollow Brook Golf Club in Cortlandt Manor.

Hochroth's daughter Niki, who is now in her early 20s, started getting autism symptoms after getting encephalitis, which is an acute inflamation of the brain, when she was 6. Over the last few years, Hochroth and Barone have been involved in Autism Speaks charitable walks and various other fundraising events for autism.

"We want to increase our fundraising goals and make this year’s [golf outing] event bigger and better, fundraising and improving awareness for Autism Speaks as much as possible," Hochroth said. "With new statistics indicating a rise in autism, we are more determined than ever before.”
