Guiding Eyes for the Blind Honors Entergy Nuclear for its Continued Support

Guiding Eyes for the Blind honors Entergy Nuclear Northeast for its continued support of the nonprofit school's mission and volunteers.

recently honored Entergy Nuclear Northeast for its continued support of the nonprofit school's mission and volunteers. A plaque dedicated to Entergy now hangs in the volunteer suite of the Guiding Eyes Training Center and Headquarters in Yorktown Heights.

“Guiding Eyes for the Blind is so very grateful for the support Entergy Nuclear Northeast has provided over the years,” said Michelle Brier, Events and Marketing Manager for Guiding Eyes. “Our volunteers work hard to help ensure that we provide world-class guide dogs and the best training possible to their blind and visually impaired partners.

Brier said Entergy's support of their volunteers' work is an affirmation that the volunteers are "indispensable to [their] mission."

Accompanied by a Guiding Eyes dog named Tony, Brier presented the plaque to Lori Sheldon, communications specialist for Entergy Nuclear Northeast.

Guiding Eyes volunteer programs include activities such as kennel enrichment, student services, and administrative support. Volunteers in the kennel enrichment programs provide dogs in training with structured interactive activities and also basic feeding, grooming and cleaning. They also take on more specialized tasks, such as canine massage therapy and dog walking.
