Fire District Commissioner Elections Today; Lakeland's Winter Concerts; Why Alpacas and More

Here are five things you need to know today, Dec. 11.

1.

Board of Fire Commissioners election will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

  • The Lake Mohegan Fire District vote will take place at the Jefferson Valley fire station, located at 500 Lee Boulevard in Jefferson Valley. 
  • The Yorktown Heights Engine Company #1 will hold its polling place at the Yorktown Fire Station on Commerce Street.
  • The Golden's Bridge Fire District vote will take place at the firehouse located at Route 138 in Golden's Bridge.
  • The Somers Fire District election will take place in the commissioners office at the Lincolndale Firehouse, 119 Route 139, Somers.

2. Somers BOE Meeting

Somers school board members will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the Somers Middle School library, located at 250 Route 202, Somers.

5. Lakeland's Winter Concerts

Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School's winter concerts will be held the week of Dec. 10-13 at Lakeland High School. On Dec. 17, Lincoln-Titus Elementary School, Van Cortlandtville Elementary School and Thomas Jefferson Elementary School will hold their concerts. Lakeland High School's winter chorus concert is Dec. 18 and the Band and Orchestra Concert on Dec. 19.
