Final Fore!

Area golfers get in their last round of the season at county courses.

The rising sun began to burn off the fog as a herd of deer darted across the green on the first hole at Mohansic Golf Course in Yorktown on Saturday morning.

In the parking lot, small groups of golfers put on their golf shoes, unloaded their clubs and headed for the pro shop to play one last round of golf as the six Westchester-county-owned courses opened for the final time this season.

At Saxon Woods Golf Course in White Plains, a golfer hit his approach shot over a group of wandering geese on the fairway. As temperatures climbed towards the mid-50's, golfers were grateful to still be playing on New Year's Eve, but lamented having to wait until St. Patrick's day for their next round.
