Purchase Quarterly Meeting at the Amawalk Meeting House

Amawalk Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) announce that on August 1, 2010 they will be holding an informal program.

Robert and Cornell Capa, world-renowned photojournalists, are buried along with Cornell's wife Edie and their mother at the Amawalk Burial Ground.

Cornell founded The International Center of Photography (ICP) as an institution to keep the legacy of 'Concerned Photography,' humanitarian documentary work, alive. While Robert is most well known for his photographs of wars, Cornell was to become known as a "photographer for peace."

Anna Winand, Cornell's assistant for nearly 40 years, will provide a personal perspective on the Capa family and their places in the world of photography. Afterward, those who wish may visit the site; appropriate attire for walking a short distance through the woods is suggested.
