Animal Lovers Invited to SPCA's Walkathon & Pet Fair in Yorktown

SPCA's largest fundraising event of the year will take place on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights.

Every year thousands of animal lovers come out to support the SPCA’s Walk-a-thon and Pet Fair, which is being held this year on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at in Yorktown Heights.

The Walkathon and Pet Fair is the SPCA’s largest fundraising event of the year, as well as the county’s largest pet related event.

The SPCA Walk-a-thon dog marshall is Jack, a pit bull/labrador mix who was rescued from a pit bull fighting ring in Yonkers where he was used as a bait dog.

"Jack has made huge strides since arriving and we hope will meet his new adoptive family at the event," said Lisa Bonanno, SPCA Development Manager.

This year’s ribbon cutting will be performed by renowned actor, comedian and animal lover Robert Klein, a long time Briarcliff Manor resident. For more than 40 years, he has entertained audiences and he continues to have an acclaimed career in comedy, on Broadway, on television, and in film. Most recently, Robert appeared on NBC’s acclaimed show, Law and Order SVU.

The SPCA’s Walk-a-thon and Pet Fair has something for everyone-games and crafts for kids, live music, food and refreshments, SPCA adoptable dogs plus dog friendly activities for your canine friends to take part in and enjoy.

Even if your dog doesn’t handle crowds or like other animals, or if you’re a cat lover, you can still come out, have fun and take part to help all the animals of the SPCA of Westchester.

There is still time to sign-up to raise money online. Registration is not required to attend. For further details, log on to www.spca914.org or email lisa@spca914.org.
