3 Minutes on a Park Bench with Cynthia Rubino

The three Cs dominate Cindy Rubino's work-day mornings. The Cortlandt Manor resident is CEO and President of the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester.

But, we admit, it's the other trio she mentioned in her recent interview with Patch that we really hanker after.

Coffee, cats and computer!  I am up at 5:30 to get things in order so I can head to the YMCA, work out, and start my day.

What’s the best thing about your job?

I get to help someone every day in some small way.

What’s the hardest thing about your job?

Accomplishing everything I set out to do each day.  There are so many moving parts at the YMCA—matters that need your immediate attention come up and you must address these on the spot.

How long have you lived in Westchester?

All my life

What’s your favorite thing about living here?

The people – I have a huge network of personal & professional friends and a great deal of real and chosen family members who make my life very rewarding.

If you had to arrange a secret meeting here, where would you have it?

The filter room under the large pool at the YMCA – NO ONE goes there!

When you want a really indulgent snack, where do you go and what do you get?

Tres Leches cake from Neri’s Bakery in Port Chester

Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Never give up!

What are you doing after this interview?

Talking to my YMCA CEO Coach Gary Green– we have LOTS to chat about!
