Support Connection announces tee-shirt design contest for 20th Anniversary Support-A-Walk

Support Connection announces a contest which will determine the design for tee-shirts to be worn by thousands of walkers at their 20th Anniversary Support-A-Walk for Breast and Ovarian Cancer.

The Support-A-Walk, to be held on Sun. Oct. 5 at FDR Park in Yorktown Heights, was founded by local residents to bring attention to the needs of people affected by breast and ovarian cancer, and to raise funds for Support Connection’s free support services for those living with these diseases. In 2014, Support Connection is celebrating the 20th anniversary of this inspiring and uplifting community event.

Each year, people travel from across the Hudson Valley and beyond to take part in the Support-A-Walk. Participants of all ages complete a 3-mile walk, often in honor of loved ones who are affected by breast and ovarian cancer. Families, friends, co-workers and teams of walkers are invited to walk together. Individuals are also welcome to participate.

For the tee-shirt contest, Support Connection is inviting middle and high school students to create a design that will embody the spirit of the organization’s mission. The winning design will be chosen by Support Connection staff and will be featured on 3,000 tee-shirts. Designs can be drawn, painted or in digital format. Students can earn up to 5 hours of community service for participating.

Before creating a design, students must contact Support Connection for details, requirements and design specifications. Submission deadline is Friday, April 25. To learn more about the contest, call Christine Katt at 914-962-6402, or email walk@supportconnection.org.
