Guiding Eyes for the Blind: Eyes on the Future – An Assistive Technology Showcase

Guiding Eyes for the Blind has partnered with Verizon to present an insightful seminar on assistive technology in the workforce.  The event, open to the public, will be held on Tuesday, September 10 from 8:30 – 10:00am at Guiding Eyes’ Headquarters and Training facility, located at 611 Granite Springs Road in Yorktown Heights, NY. Following the technology presentation, guests will be invited to tour the campus and meet Guiding Eyes’ very special dogs, professional trainers and the current class of blind men and women.

Guiding Eyes graduate Jeffrey Pledger, President of Verizon’s Disabilities Issues Awareness Leaders, will lead the discussion and showcase a variety of adaptive resources. Together with a variety of technology vendors, Pledger will demonstrate how the right tools can enable businesses to advance diversity initiatives, preserve investment in talent, and retain highly skilled workers.

“Assistive technology in the workplace is essential,” says Mike Gravitt, a consultant for Bayer Business and Technology Services and Guiding Eyes graduate. “It allows corporations to retain broader talent pool diversity and is an integral part of Bayer’s culture.”

Light refreshments will be served. To RSVP, contact Mary Jane Werner at 914.243.4348 or mwerner@guidingeyes.org.
