Walter Panas High School won a thrilling five set victory over Vestal High School on Nov. 12 to earn their first trip to the state championships. Panas met Vestal HS at East Corning HS on Monday, Nov. 12.
Panas Volleyball will play on Saturday, Nov. 17 in Glens Falls at 3:30 pm in the Civic Center.
Panas, led by Brigitte Burcescu and Shaina Campbell had to come from behind two sets to score a 19-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-21 victory.
The Panthers are are advancing to their first state final four in school history.
On Friday night, Nov. 9 at Carmel High School, Walter Panas HS won a thrilling Regional match over Cornwall HS last night.
In Friday's Regional Semifinal at Carmel HS, Cornwall won the first set 25-23 and Panas the second 25-17. Cornwall then took the third 25-18 to go up 2-1 in sets. The Panthers then roared back and swept the final two sets (25-8 and 25-15) to win the match.
The Walter Panas HS Volleyball team defeated Ursuline HS 3-0 to win the Section One championship on Thursday (Nov. 8) afternoon at Hendrick Hudson HS.
