Senator Greg Ball Secures a Total of $200,000 For Senior Yorktown Seniors

Senator Greg Ball (Patterson – R, C) was at the Yorktown Senior Center last week to present two $100,000 capital grants that have both been successfully secured for renovations to the facilities.

The check presentation took place during the Yorktown Senior Lunch Program.

Senator Greg Ball is happy to announce, that as a result of a three-way agreement, between the Governor, Senate and Assembly, funds are now available for a total of $200,000. The Director of the Yorktown Senior Program said the grants will allow them to make much needed renovations to their bathrooms and facilities.

“Right now, with the situation with our bathrooms, not many people are happy using them. After these upgrades it will be much more comfortable and will provide a better quality of life for all our seniors,” Director of the Yorktown Senior Center, Mary DeSilva said. “Senator Balls is devoted to the Yorktown seniors. On behalf of all the seniors we are very grateful for Senator Ball.”

“I love my Yorktown seniors and I am very proud of all they do for the community! I am so happy that we were able to secure this grant for these much needed  renovations. Mary DeSilva and everyone down at the senior center do wonderful work for the community and I couldn’t be happier to deliver this grant,” Senator Greg Ball said. “I am proud to fight to bring as much of our tax money back from Albany, to home, where it belongs. As long as I am in office I will continue to fight for the residents of Yorktown and for all the constituents I represent district wide.”

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
