Most of the 15 municipalities of NWEAC were joined by Ted Jenkins (GSF) and his team to describe the scope and intent of our innovative Municipal Solar Buyers Groups on Oct. 3 at Somers Town Hall.
Elected officials or their representatives met to decide whether to proceed with the PV Solar Municipal Buyers Group program. The principals of GSF Advisors (Global Structured Finance Advisors) and GP Renewables & Trading, who collectively will be NWEAC’s “Advisors” in implementing this program, were there and described in detail the approach and benefits of the program.
Bedford, Cortlandt, Croton, Lewisboro, Mt. Kisco, North Salem, Pleasantville, Pound Ridge, Ossining Town, Ossining Village, Somers were represented. Absent were New Castle, North Castle, Peekskill and Yorktown.
For the most part we obtained enthusiastic support to continue the process either by senior elected officials directly or via their representatives by proxy.
To confirm the size and shape of the Group we sent out a request for confirmation and it quickly resulted in a number of affirmative responses from some of our senior and most experience leaders. The next step is for the municipalities to identify municipal solar opportunities and to describe them in sufficient detail such that they can be aggregated in segments.
Time is of the essense as bidding for solar capacity will commence in early November. Comments and reactions are welcome.
