Local Insurance Agent Meets with State Representatives

Thom Ianniccari, Insurance Broker for the Lower Hudson Valley Region for The Reis Group of Kingston, NY recently met with Steven Katz, Assemblyman for the 99th District and Greg Ball, State Senator for the 40th District, which includes Putnam County, Southern Dutchess and Northern Westchester.

Meeting separately in their respective offices for the purpose of discussing current insurance issues before the legislature Ianniccari was seeking support. Topics included concerns over homeowner policy Hurricane deductibles, repealing mandatory photo inspections for auto insurance, and more. Much of the discussion was of making it a criminal offense to commit fraud with no-fault auto coverages. There is a bill in both the assembly and the Senate to this end to which both Ball and Katz co-sponsor.

Ianniccari is a board member of Professional Insurance Agents of NY located in the Albany area and meets with local representatives to keep them apprised of legislation affecting both consumers and their agents.

“I always find both Steven and Greg very enthusiastically accessible and receptive to the issues presented," Ianniccari said. “with keen interest on auto insurance fraud through “no-fault” coverages and will look into supporting the respective bills as well as the standardization of Certificates of Insurance.”

Senator Ball was surprised that “No Fault” insurance fraud was only a misdemeanor in New York, while it is a felony in New Jersey. Assemblyman Katz pledged his surprise as well.

Ianniccari joined the insurance industry in 1994 as a property/casualty broker and brings more than 30 years of business experience with him in retail management, commercial real estate and the music production industry. He does extensive business with gas stations/garages, building owners, restaurants and the contracting trades.

He is also a member of The Chamber of Mahopac-Carmel and the Business Council of Westchester.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
