The Lakeland High School Boys' Soccer team defeated Goshen (Section 9) Wednesday night in a thrilling overtime game decided on penalty kicks.
After completing 80 minutes of regulation and two 15-minute sudden victory overtime periods, the team out shot Goshen 3-2 on penalty kicks as Goalie Steve Reiche made a spectacular save on Goshen's final kick to seal the victory. He made another save on Coshen's previous penalty kick as well. Reiche also scored the first of Lakeland's penalty kicks.
The Hornets will now play Maine-Endwell HS in the Regional Final on Saturday in Oneonta. Lakeland upset No. 1 Port Chester 1-0 in the Section 1 Class A boys soccer championship game Saturday, November 5, at Purchase College.
