Holiday Wishes Fulfilled at Jefferson Valley Mall

One lucky Mahopac Family to receive over $8,000
in gifts,
courtesy of Visit Florida, Gymboree and
Simon Malls

The Haley family of Mahopac have made Santa’s ‘nice’ list this year and will be presented with an impressive array of prizes from Santa Claus at Simon Property Group’s
(NYSE: SPG) Jefferson Valley Mall on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 9 a.m.

Michael and Kerri Haley, along with four-year-old son Michael and two-year-old daughter Saoirse, are winners of Simon’s Cutest Santa Photo Contest. The generous prize package includes an all inclusive trip to Club Med’s Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie, Florida, courtesy of Visit
Florida, $250 in toys, a $250 American Express® Simon Giftcard® and $1,200 in clothing, compliments of Gymboree.

Earlier this season, Michael and Saoirse Haley sat on Santa’s lap at Jefferson Valley Mall and captured the charming winning photo. The family will return to where
the magic began for a once-in-a-lifetime experience including riding in a spectacular horse-drawn carriage at 9 a.m. and a special engagement with Santa until 10 a.m., where they will enjoy one-on-one time and receive their gifts, just in time for the holidays.

Originally from the Bronx, Kerri is a stay-at-home mom during the week to Michael, who loves play digging, construction and Power Rangers, and Saoirse, a ‘girly girl’
who enjoys baby dolls, dressing up in tutus and fun clothing. On weekends, Kerri is a per diem registrar at Hudson Valley Hospital in Courtlandt Manor. Father Michael is originally from Limerick, Ireland and is a Miner with Local Union 147 six days a week. As part of his occupation, Michael rarely sees daylight and will certainly enjoy sunny Port St. Lucie at Club Med’s Sandpiper Bay with his family.

While the Haley family is thrilled to win, they are also mindful of others who aren’t as fortunate and in the spirit of generosity, have decided to donate a portion
of the clothing from Gymboree and toys to a benefitting charity, Yorktown Love in Action, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, providing services to people in the community who have fallen on difficult times. Founder
Donna Simone has identified a local family, one of the organization’s success stories, to receive this donation. The father walks to work at his job as a mechanic at a local gas station and the mother is finishing school in White
Plains, which she travels to by bus two times a week. The couple’s 20 month-old son and seven-year-old daughter will be at Jefferson Valley Mall on Saturday to
take in the excitement of the festive atmosphere and celebration, along with the Haley’s.

“The Cutest Santa Photo Contest is delighted provide
this little bit of extra Christmas cheer to Kerri, Michael, Michael and Saoirse and, by extension of their generosity, to Yorktown Love in Action, this holiday season,” said Lauren Penchina, director of mall marketing for Jefferson Valley Mall.  “The holidays are a special time for families to
get together and Simon’s Jefferson Valley Mall, Visit Florida and Gymboree are happy to help make this Christmas a memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experience
for this lucky family.”

“We have created magical memories for families across the United States for over eight years through this unique contest,” said Lisa Bennett, Assistant Vice President of Business Development for Simon Malls and creator of The Cutest Santa Photo contest.  “We look forward to
making many more memorable holiday seasons to come at Simon Malls.”

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
