Congrats Yorktown Girl Scout; JV Mall Renovation Plans; Somers Health Fair

1) Congratulations to Kristen Anderson, a senior at Yorktown High School, who has achieved her Girl Scout Gold Award. Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) honored her with a New York State Senate Proclamation. Read more here.

2) Check out Susan Siegel's blog post with the latest from Yorktown's planning board meeting this week. Members reviewed the Jefferson Valley Mall renovation plans for building, parking lot and Route 6 berm. Board members also postponed approving proposed dome at Navajo Fields pending more information and DEC feedback.

3) The free Somers Health Fair is being held today from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Somers Library. At the fair, exhibitors and professionals who specialize in helping older adults in Westchester will be on hand to answer questions.

4) Registration for Lakeland's Fall 2013 Continuing Education classes is now underway. You may register via mail or in-person from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily at the Lakeland Administration Building, 1086 East Main Street, Shrub Oak. Classes range from personal fulfillment to self-growth. Classes begin Sept. 30.

5) According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will be sunny, with a high near 71.
