Former President Clinton Rallies For Sean Patrick Maloney

Bill Clinton showed his support for Maloney's run for Congress on Sunday

Although he was on his way to Florida to assist President Barack Obama and Hurricane Sandy was inching closer to Westchester, former President Bill Clinton took time Sunday to show his support for Sean Patrick Maloney.

Maloney is running against incumbent Nan Hayworth in New York's 18th Congressional District and held a rally Sunday at Somers High School. Clinton stopped by, but had to cut his visit short so he could make it to the airport before it closes for the storm.

Still, he was there long enough to throw his support behind Maloney, who was a senior advisor in Clinton’s White House.

“Being elected to Congress is a job,” Clinton, a Chappaqua resident, said. “It requires a preference for evidence over ideology or artihmatic over allusion, for shared prosperity over trickle down or where we’re all in this together versus you’re on your own. This is not a complicated decision.”

Maloney said it was an honor for Clinton to still attend the rally even thought he was on his way out of town.
